Sections of the Bayeux Tapestry, an embroidered cloth, which measures nearly 70 meters long and 50 centimeters wide. It depicts events leading up to the Norman invasion of England by William, Duke of Normandy (later William I, King of England). There has been much debate about whether this tapestry was produced by William's wife and ladies-in-waiting or professional craftsmen.
